New ASDA superstore in Barry. Good or bad news?

A new ASDA superstore looks set to open as part of the Barry Waterfront redevelopment.
Supporters argue it creates new jobs, provides extra competition, and provides more choice.
Opponents argue it will destroy jobs, furhter damage small independent businesses, and reduce choice.
Where do you stand?
Is it a good or bad idea for Barry?

With the addition of ASDA we will have 'the set', not bad for a town of 47000

Minimum wage jobs are better than no jobs and provide experience and promotion opportunities. As I say elsewhere on this site nothing is happening, anyway, save for the constant shifting around of piles of dusty gravel!

No one need worry either way since little is happening on this site and it is obvious that the scheme is years- yes years behind schedule. All that happens month after month is the shifting around of piles of gravel. This causes dust and nuisance to local residents. At this rate the Cpnsortium will go bankrupt. Who, I wonder is paying for this non productive site?

No news is forthcoming as to what is going on on this mysterious Phase Two Project. Something must be revealed to the public soon. Get some information out to soon. The community deserves something

better after all the promises that have been made to them over the years.

We should be building "Sustainable Services" for communities, the appalling Social Mobility levels in Wales will only get worse if we continue to live so unsustainably... but that's boring, people are more interested in watching X-Factor.
