Presentation of Ideas to decision makers in Wales

Present the ideas offered on the Barry Ideas Bank to decision makers in Wales at an annual open evening or in the form of a booklet. Although the internet is a quick way to gather information, it is also very easy to forget that informtion before things in the tangible world get to change. It is one thing to come up with ideas but quite another to see them implemented. For the Barry Ideas Bank to grow ideas presented on the site have to show tangible results that touch people's lives in a practical and not just conceptual way. Celebrate Barry, but then really make a change. ' Be the change you would like to see in the world'

That's a great idea.
We are for example, seeking discussions with public bodies to use this site as a different way of how they go about things.

We say 'Prebuttal is the new rebuttal' - if you engage with people first you're less likely to have to explain, apologise or change what you are doing if it meets objections.

At present an organisation like the Vale of Glamorgan Council has plans - for example its new proposals for Whitmore Bay. We know of people very interested in these who have some great ideas to contribute.
At present the Council presents their proposals which then go out for consultation. By this time the idea is already established and often at best you might tinker around the edges of it.
If however, they instead consulted beforehand, their thinking is much more likely to be influenced by anyone submitting different ways of thinking, addressing a problem.

We hope people like the Vale Council see the opportunity presented by the IdeasBank.

We also hope everyone else can, as you rightly say, 'Be the change you would like to see in the world.'
